In 1956 there were many extras for Vette: electrical window, electrical roof, tunning-radio, white-line tire, solid-roof.
In 1957 appeared the first Corvette with fuel injection and the accelerate was 5.7 seconds for 60 mph. 1000 Corvettes with injection and 6339 Corvettes without injection were sold in this year.
The Corvette made a ring-rekord with Senor Fangio at Sebring.

Do you know, the 1969's Corvettes were selling less horsepower than they really had?

1969 Corvette ZL-1

In 1969 there was some bad comment about Corvette. She seemed to be a racecar, she didn't like low rpm. For this reason GM said: this car has 430 horsepower, but she really had 585 horsepower (only ZL-1, this engine was developed for the son of Mako Shark II., Manta Ray also). Otherwise 38000 Corvettes were sold in this year.
ZL-1 has 6,997 liter's (427 cubic inch) aluminium engine, she needs 5 seconds for 60 mph and the 4 carburated ZL-1 needs 7 seconds for 140 mph. There were made only two public ZL-1, the last one was sold for about 250000$.

Callaway Sledgehammer Corvette

In June of '88 Reeves Callaway has performed the fastest Corvette of the 20th century, her name is Sledgehammer. The engine: 5,7 liter V8 twin trubo, horse-power: 880 hp in 6250 rpm. Top speed: 254.7 mph (409.9 kph), sprint: 0-60 mph 3.9 seconds, 0-1 mph 10.6 seconds.
